Spring Break!

Abby just finished her first Spring Break! Ours was pretty relaxed. We just kind of hung out. Unfortunately, the week started out with the stomach flu. That wasn't fun, but it was short lived. On Monday, we renewed our zoo membership and headed out for a beautiful day at the zoo. They have a Koala exhibit there for a short while. They were cute, but also kind of creepy. The pictures came out kind of funny. You can see us in the glare on the window. Oh well.

Emily's first zoo trip. I am not sure how much she liked it. It was a little too hot for her liking.

Later in the week, we had a "camp out" in the backyard. We flew with any ideas at this point!

Billy is our guest again this week. Mom and Dad are on their anniversary trip.
By Friday, I was trying to think of something fun to do. So we headed to Hobby Lobby. Love that store! Especially their 40% off coupons I get in my inbox. I bought the girls this coloring cardboard house. That was actually a few hours of fun!

Ah, back to real life! School starts Monday!

Happy 4th Birthday Katie!

Happy Birthday Kate! I can't believe you are already 4 years old! You are becoming such a little girl! You bring so much silliness, humor, energy, excitement, and love to your family. I am so thankful for how your brain works! Your insights into your world are classic! How many times have I thought, "Oh I gotta write that one down!" I love your sweet spirit and how you care for your little sister. And at the same time, I love how much you look up to Abby and enjoy her company. The hours you spend playing and laughing together bring so much joy to my heart. We are thrilled to celebrate your special life! Happy Birthday my little love!

I asked Katie what she wanted for her birthday party. With a totally serious face, she spouted off, "I want my party and Papa and Gramma's house with the bouncy house, all my cousins, and I want Papa to grill hamburgers and hot dogs for everyone, but I don't want anything on my hot dog, and I want a Lion King cake." Well, I guess she had already thought about it! She got everything she wanted except the Lion King cake. Couldn't find one. But she happily settled for Dora.

Katie and her cousin Justin are little best friends. They just laugh and laugh!

Kindermusik

A friend of ours from church teaches Kindermusik classes in her home. We have enrolled Katie in them for the past few classes. She has loved them! Not only are the classes loads of fun, but we get to take a music CD and an instrument home. The girls love to listen to their CD as they play in the playroom. It has been great to see Katie open up in this type of environment. They just had their last class for the school year so I had to take some pictures.

Play dough Letters?

I love how Katie thinks outside the box! I can't wait to see where her creativity takes her. I have been trying to teach her her ABC's. It is a little bit of new ground for me because I swear I never taught Abby, she must have learned them through osmosis. So, how to teach Kate? We have tried several things. Recently I thought, let's make letters out of play dough. I gave her some and asked her to make an A. This turned out to be a little harder than I thought. She whipped up her letter and with great excitement said, "Mommy, look at my A!" Hmmm, how to respond? I just had to chuckle and take a picture! Good job Kate!

Let's just say this activity quickly turned into pizza making!
