Jason and I tend to be those kind of people that are big on nicknames. Katie is affectionately known by many names including Katie-Kate, Kay-Kay, Monkey Pants, and recently, Chuckles. How can one describe this child? Hmm... She is stubborn as all get out, but super cute, super funny, and super vivacious! She has definitely taught me what if feels like to want to pull my hair out and laugh hysterically at the same time. Kate is just down-right funny. She doesn't try to be funny, she just is. For instance, here is one of my favorite recent stories. Katie has made up her own curse word. I know I probably shouldn't think this is funny, but, well, it is. I actually think it is a great example of indwelling sin. There were several days when Kate would get frustrated about something or couldn't figure something out or didn't get what she wanted, and she would say something with this scrunch of the nose. At first, I couldn't quite tell what it was she was saying. Sometimes she would be mad when she was saying it and sometimes it was more in passing. I tried to listen closer to figure out what she was saying. Then I realized what it was. She had made up her own curse word. She would get frustrated and say, "Oh duck." or "Oh ducky-duck." Now I am fairly certain that she has no idea of the close correlation between these words and other well-known words. The more I watched her, I realized she was really just saying something because her heart felt like cursing. Although it is a great example of our sinful heart, I also thought it was pretty comical. Ah Katie! She is certainly one-of-a-kind!
With Abby being in school these past couple of weeks, I wasn't sure what to expect from Kate. She certainly has some awareness of being left out and asks a lot to go to school with Abby. Although I can tell she misses her best friend, she has actually been quite a pleasant surprise! She has been super mellow, and loves to play by herself. I have never seen her just play with her toys and use her imagination quite like she has been doing. I will put Emily in her bumbo seat and she will have tea parties with her and is super gentle and sweet. I am so glad that I have got to see this side of her. I have really enjoyed her in the mornings!
She still loves her blanket, loves to suck on her index finger, loves monkeys, loves the color orange, although green is a new favorite, loves to run around and scream, loves Billie, loves to drink milk and watch her Disney shows in the morning, loves to go swimming, loves Macaroni and Cheese, her favorite movie is the Lion King, and she HATES large costume characters like "Red" at Red Robin or "Chucky Cheese."
She got herself dressed on this morning.

This is the pose she takes when she is showing you that she can balance on one foot! Though, she says, she can't hop because her foot will fall down.

What a sweet, sweet girl! You just got to love her like crazy!!
